From this blog post:
Ron Paul may preach getting out of everyone elses’ backyard, but covert and special forces missions in conjunction with Mossad will happen and continue to happen on a more frequent basis, as we saw just a few days ago at the nuke plant. I like that style of warfare. Let’s send in small groups to do big damage to evil, rather than putting 200,000 men in the desert.
Just like Obama, the manila folders that land on any president’s desk will drastically change what actually gets implemented, and what gets talked about a lot.
http://www.ronpaul2012.com/2011/12/13/ron-paul-supports-george-w-bushs-foreign-policy/
The link is to a video that is just clips of GWB running in 2000. He almost perfectly articulates RP’s own foreign policy. I think both men are correct. A dozen 9/11s won’t change my belief that this version of GWB’s foriegn policy continues to be the best chance we have today. As a sustainable policy for the country, and as something which the republican brand desperately needs.
Iran’s threat is real and it might be imminent. But we will never really know just what intel is out there, and how it’s being acted upon. A President Paul simply wouldn’t have the means to just yank the carpet out from under the military, although sending hundreds of thousands of soldiers into foreign countries for “nation building” would be a thing of the past. I welcome that policy with open arms.
Another thing: We just suspended millions of dollars to a nuclear-armed country who is giving shelter to the very people we are actually fighting at the moment. That seems like a more immanent threat than the Iranians trying to keep the sand out of their beakers long enough to figure out how to make a bomb.
There’s also North Korea (remember them?!). Are we going to send in soldiers to these two countries? What if Russia defends Iran or NK? Active American foreign policy is an endless rabbit hole of hypotheticals, and a great platform to run on is to say that you will engage it as little as possible. I think it’s over-the-top to say that a vote for a person means everyone gets nuked.
No, pulling out of every conflict area in the world won’t make some of the leaders and imams of Islamic countries stop seeking the restoration of the caliphate, or the subjugation of secularism in the world, or the end of democracy. But it does seem like these days, every tyranny that that is shattered is replaced with something worse. We certainly aren’t making the world any happier with all the money we are pouring out. So, let’s try something differet.
I guess making two posts defending Ron Paul now cristens me as a ‘PaulBot’. I’m thirsty– someone get me some koolaid?
After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, a California archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story in the LA Times read: “California archaeologists, report finding of 200 year old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.”
One week later, a local newspaper in Indiana reported the following: “After digging as deep as 30 feet in his pasture near Seymour, Indiana, Ole Swenson, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. Ole has therefore concluded that 300 years ago Indiana had already gone wireless”.
Just makes a person proud to be from Indiana.
“It’s a shame how I see all trash around here,” he said. He pointed to his head. “People don’t understand that the freedom starts here in your mind.”

Here’s a stamp that I’ve been working on. I’m going to scour etsy (per inspiration from Jocelyn) for someone who will clean it up and produce it. Are you that person? Send me an email.
The stamp itself is a bit of a bastard blend of types and eras. The monogram “T” itself is Insular Majuscule, while the Roman numerals corresponding to the wedding year are from…Rome. And not England. But that’s part of my story, and ours by extension.
There is a vine that wraps around the T. Following the excellent work by Stefan Oliver in his book, I can select from his list of floral illumination themes a set of flowers that have represented different emotions and expressions of piety medeival manuscripts. I’d like the three flowers to be:
Of course the stamp wouldn’t be able to get a lot of the details. But just getting the petals and general shape would be great. I’d take care of coloring the stamens/stigmas and the red rose for each press.
Goal: make arguing online more objectified. (Or a stronger claim in the future)
Procedure:
within <p> tags, two things should happen:
w3c ought to adapt a “footnote” attribute in <a> tags, as a means of backing a claim, statement or arguement. Positive integer. This will allow the temporary delaying of an underlined <a> link from being underlined, but rather being cited using standarized apa notation.
<footnote> tags, below a given <p> tag, itemize the variables for an apa notation, according to source format. Easybib offers a good variety of these.
Any claim with a claim principally online should include date of access. Then, a URL is given.
Claimroot counts how many time a URL is referenced by a claim. Max 100 chars.

The moment when a habit can become a practice, it can also become a vice.
The difference is determined by an action.
After doing something for a period of time, a person can either come the fruitful action and continue on into another one, or else it can be complete with action and find resolution. At this point, a person is with option of continuing or changing action. If that action begins again without intention, it has become a vice. If a person engages a consecutive action intentionally and with regard to a deepening of the proficiency of the action, then it is not necessarily a vice. But it still can be.
The devil looses all ground and authority once the aspiring man recgonizes in a deep way the beauty of the moral life. It is the moment when he truly and deeply says “I want to be a maestro, playing my own life”

English:
O my God, I offer you all my prayers, actions, and sufferings of this day in union with the merits of Jesus Christ, for Thy greater glory, and in fulfillment of Thy most holy will. I offer them in honor of Mother Mary, most holy, in honor of St. Joseph, and of all my patron saints. I offer them for the remission and atonement of my sins, for the conversion of sinners and the dying, for the perseverance of the just, according to the intentions of the sovereign pontiff, and to gain indulgences to help the poor souls in purgatory. I offer them for my own spiritual advantage, and that of my brethren, and of all those for whom I am bound to pray, and finally I offer them in thanksgiving for all the graces which I have received, and shall yet receive, through the merits of Jesus Christ your son.

My mind falls deaf seeking my own pleasures,
I abondon your genorsity!
My bones are powder; the earth shakes at my feet.
Your echo reminds me you are near.
Grant me – make me whole, and let me praise you for what sustains my life
for the creator of heaven knows more purely our hearts than we.
I weep for I know not what is good for me, and I want what is not.
But you, LORD know the hairs on my head.
My salvation is in Your hands
Count me among your beloved
For I deserve it not but yearn for Your rays of truth
like a spruce tree pining for light
Blessed be our LORD, who made heaven and earth!
2
Good is the LORD, for he has planted all things to grow and sustains them
We are given the gift of grace; the world is sustained
Suffer not the restlessness of your own creation
and show us the mercy and not justice of your will.
For You forget not the burdens of our lives,
but hear our prayers as turbulant incense smoke
Continue your blessings until the Son of Man comes again!
It was a hot topic in DC papers for about 48 hours. The sheer stupidity of it caused it to burn out pretty quickly.
The craziest part about it is that no muslim students at CUA complained. Rather, Muslim student numbers at Catholic have shot up in the past few years.
At first glance, that might seem like the Catholic identity of the school is being shirked. But actually, the opposite is true and is attested as such. Muslim students at school greatly prefer people of unabashed faith to a multiculturalism that enjoys the exploration of every culture except its own. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.
This whole fiasco reminds me of the Regensburg address by the Holy Father. The fact remains that the Father both called for peaceful but engaged dialogue that didn’t pander to sides, but looked for the best in people. And he challanged the muslim world to dialogue without violence. The fact that people died as a result of his speech sorta proved his point. But that’s besides the point for now.
There wasn’t a MSM outlet to be found not pouncing on the Pope for quoting the 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel II. They joined the voices of every unlettered remark from muslim polemicists who condemned the Pope. But you know who didn’t? Muslim scholars! For example, A Common Word was published a year later, which was the largest (138 scholars, clerics and officials) gathering of Muslim authorities since the 7th century. And what they did together, without fighting or violence, was actually respond to Benedict XVI’s offer to dialogue. This was totally overlooked by the media, because it was boring and academic and peaceful and achieved the goals that the evil Pope actually sought. From Wikipedia:
What’s my point? My point is that Muslim kids pick CUA over GW precisely because we are proudly Catholic. It’s hard for a secularist to understand it, but it is not difficult for either Muslims or Catholics. And as a Catholic, I know that the human rights violations being alleged are not rights that come from the state and are protected by the state. Human rights and the dignity of a human being come from God, because God made us in the image of Him. Of course Muslim kids are going to gravitate towards a student body that understands this in university policy and in lived experience.
The other option is to be the “deeply respected” other-group-of-people-we-don’t-understand-but-think-are-interesting. At major state universities, a huge divide is created between administrators and faculty who will endlessly pander to people who aren’t asking for pandering, and students who reject muslims for just being too weird from their own post-christian, modern, liberal worldview. They think, “Let them keep their headscarves, but don’t make us sit together. Otherwise it might get preachy.” If you were a 19 year old muslim, which would you pick? Just look at the attendance numbers.
Muslim students–along with every other religion and nationality– travel from all over the world to study here. It would seem that the best thing US universities could do is be themselves, since it was in doing this that the world was attracted here in the first place! QED. Catholic University does this, and I love it.
President Garvey sent out an email in response to this. I’ll forward it to you– it’s pretty good.
If you have any other questions, let me know. I don’t want sharia shoved down my throat as much as the next guy, but truly in this situation, there are no muslim students or leaders to blame besides the usual rats (Hamas-linked CAIR et al) who jumped on the media bandwagon for free facetime and a victim status to perpetuate. The real criminals are professors who have no good thoughts to teach and hope to salvage their careers with sensationalism in the name of human rights. Please. Not even the people you try to make out to be victims are falling for it anymore…
